Yes: Actually there is a slightly higher pregnancy rate in women within 3 months of having an hsg. Sometimes pushing dye through can unblock a tube. Usually a significantly damaged and blocked tube will still be blocked after the hsg.

Not exactly : An hsg won't unblock a truly blocked fallopian tube. That being said it does clean it out by removing excess mucus. Interestingly, there is a higher rate of pregnancy after women have an hsg test done.

Accepted Answer

: An "HSG" is indicated after attempts for pregnancy with normal semen analysis and regular ovulation is documented for a year.  If the HSG reveals open tubes, it does not need to be repeated unless pelvic infection  occurs, or endometriosis has been diagnosed.

Rarely. : The HSG procedure can in some cases open one or both Fallopian tubes. This is a temporary effect. Also a small catheter and guidewire can be used to clear out the Fallopian tubes. This can be arranged through an Interventional Radiologist or a Fertility Gyn. The test will be scheduled according to your cycle and you will get antibiotics. Ans: The fact that the tube was preserved after the ectopic is good. There is always a chance of an ectopic but as long as the tube is not damaged or scared the chance of ectopic does not increase

Accepted Answer

An obstruction: would cause the tube to dilate proximal to it.  However, there are other abnormalities, such as inflammation/scarring, that can cause an abnormally narrowed or irregular tube. Also during an HSG a normal tube may spasm and look blocked or narrowed, so talk to your doc about your results.

NO!!!: Bad idea because if you had pid an hsg could cause a bad recurrence of the pid, u need to see an infertilty sub specialist for evaluation to see if the tubes can be fixed or not, u may have to do in vitro fertilization, but u need a proper work up.

i had a hsg test today for infertility and he said 1 tube blked but now clear... i am bleed  whn wipe and cramp with pain? any suggest? preg faster

Good luck: It sounds like your fertility will improve now.  Most women have cramping after a hsg.  You could take some motrin.

had a hsg 2 years ago- right tube clear left they couldnt see properly. had a hycosy 7 months ago- he said both tubes partially blocked and with higher pressure he unblocked them both. about to do embryo transfers and have a fear of hydrosalpinx??

: Using additional pressure in doing a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) may allow spill but fail to deal with surrounding adhesions.  Ask your GYN physician about laparoscopy to visualize the tubes and possibly remove surrounding adhesions.  Embryo transfer will not contribute to hydrosalpinx. Removal of surrounding adhesions may allow for normal pregnancy.

2 miscarriages then 2 ectopics same tube removed. hsg test- clear, no blood clotting disorder, no infections. good chance next time?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Very good chance assuming you are ovulating regularly.  Don't give up! :).
