Buspar (buspirone): Buspar (buspirone) is a very well tolerated medication overall. Very few of my patients have experienced side effects. When seen they were most often headache, dizziness (usually when getting up from lying position) ; feeling tired.

NO drinking: It sounds like your anxiety is related to your drinking. 
Pergaps you should discuss your drinking pattern with your prescribing md.

Accepted Answer

No reports: No - there should not be a problem. Antibiotics can weaken birth control effectiveness and while taking them, additional protection is recommended, but not your medication. If you worry - take them a few hours apart in case a nausea reaction causes you to vomit. Don't worry, you should be safe.

No: It should be taken three times a day and is usually titrated

No: Although buspirone, benzodiazepines (xanax, ativan, etc), hydroxyzine, some SSRIs/SNRIs,gabapentin, clonidine are all used as anxiolytics (some are FDA approved vs off label use), they ALL act differently. Buspirone acts on serotonin/dopamine receptors vs. benzos act on GABA receptors. From the list, benzos are the most highly addictive AND should NOT be taken w/opioids or alcohols.

A possibility: This combination of medications could lead to decay if you hydrate yourself with sugary beverages, as dry mouth can be associated with this combination of drugs.

: Your question is not clear. Dose of medication is increased when symptoms are not under control. Because anxiety is the underlying problem, you are probably anxious more when you know the dose needs to be increased. However, if the new dose is effective, you will eventually be fine.

can buspirone 10mg cause prolactin levels to go up without being pregnant just wondering before i start the medication?

Probably yes: Buspirone has the same mechanism of action as risperdal which is very well know to cause elevated prolactin level. Buspirone likely cause much less rise in prolactin level than risperdal.

tapering up on buspar, (buspirone) currently 20 mg a day to work up to 30 mgs.  how long does this medication typically take to work and to feel a difference. ?

BuSpar (buspirone): It generally takes about 4 weeks for patients to start noticing a difference with BuSpar (buspirone) ... However, to be honest, this is more of an average than it is a rule of thumb (sometimes it's 2 weeks, sometimes 6). Hope that helps!
