Burn : Burn scars usually last a lifetime. The good news is that they lighten over time. There is a cream called Mederma that you can buy over the counter that may help lighten the scar. Read the instructions prior to buying to make sure this gel can be used on the genitals. Lastly please do not perform any more home medical procedures on yourself, this can be dangerous, and leave long lasting scars. There are other treatments for genital warts that would have resulted in no scars.

Make an appointment: Depending on location of the wart, you may either see a dermatologist or podiatrist. There are other treatments that are less aggressive that can help the cure process be less painful.

Common: Genital warts are very common and are caused by HPV.  Most people will come in contact with some form of HPV in their lives (not always with the strain that causes warts, however). Removing might be permanent for you, or they can come back. He can't 'give' HPV back to you, as once you come in contact your body doesn't get re-infected with same strain.  Different strain, yes, but not same one.

Many options: There are many options. One standard treatment is a triple antibiotic cream; this will prevent infection but does not directly help healing. I prefer applying natural herbal extracts like aloe vera gel, calendula cream and neem oil. 
You can also take Vitamin C 1000 mg 2-3x/day to promote healing.

Rinse or soak in wat: After soaking in water rub in a little vaseline. Do not expect cough medicine to cure warts.

Yeast infection: if you are self treating with yeast medication and still wondering why it is not better then please see a physician for an exam. It could be yeast infection but possibility of folliculitis or  herpes also exist.

Unlikely: Ben, get yourself a good history and physical exam and if the cause isn't clear, get to a neurologist for a check for a peripheral neuropathy. Especially, for a man of your age, rule out Fabry's.
