Get help: This does not sound good at all, especially if the anterior fontanelle is flat. I would have a pediatrician or ER doc evaluate this ASAP. Did the child have any recent trauma? Any neurological signs such as sleepiness or abnormal movements ? Plead have this evaluated immediately, may need ultrasound or scan

Anterior fontanelle: Should be easy to feel by gently touching with the soft part of the fingertips whether wet or dry. It usually closes at around a year of age, but the timing is quite variable.

i am almost 5 months post natal and have a sore area at the top of my head almost where you would find a babies soft spot. what could this be?

Possibilities: Dermatology is pretty visual, so it's hard to know what is going on without seeing it. Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp) can present this way, as can an inflamed cyst, or even a localized bacterial infection (abscess or folliculitis).  A dermatologist should be able to help sort this out either by close examination, culture, or perhaps skin biopsy.

Scalp lesion?: The bones of the skull should have been fused for a very long time now (you are 26, right?).  I suspect that what you are referring to is a superficial scalp lesion; however, the only way to determine is to be seen by a physician so that they can examine the area of concern and then treat accordingly.  Take care of you can make an appointment.

how do i remove/get rid of blood clot from my face? i don't really know if it is a blood clot or not, but it is a tiny red spot (not bulging) that i have for 3 years. i think it's not a blemish bcz i squeezed it once and blood streamed down my face?

: Do not pick at it or squeeze it any more! Dab it of with a warm moist cloth and cover it with a skin colored bandaid (Elastoplast) . Spider veins or haemagiomas do not get better by picking at them and they heal slowly.  Please see your skin doctor!

Maybe: That depends on what it is and what it looks like.  When you next visit your pediatrician, point it out and ask him/her.

dermatologist says my infant son has developed a congenital nevus (specifically a cafe au lait spot) on his face within past few weeks. how likely will this turn into a huge, black, hairy mole? nervous! :-(

Accepted Answer

Probably low: The cafe au last probably will not become a hairy nevus but should keep an eye out for any new cafe lesions.

Good news is they are laser able however the return frequency is high. If you go that route make sure to go to a dermatologist that performs a lot of these type treatments and start on a small area and wait 6 weeks to see if the spot lightens or darkens.

Get it seen: I suspect it'll turn out to be a keratoacanthoma but any growth that you have to ask about like this needs to be seen by your primary care physician.

my infant son was sent home from daycare due to them thinking he has ringworm on his face. he has eczema and has been using a pacifier that has been rubbing the spot where the ringworm is. it did get slightly better with eczema cream. is it ringworm?

Spots will resolve: Milia are very common, and though frustrating for parents to see are not associated with any underlying problem. The little white bumps on the face will resolve with time and i generally recommend parents do nothing to make them go away any faster. They will not cause any permanent scarring and are not painful to the baby. Feel reassured your baby is ok and watchful waiting is the best medicine!
