Doubtful Fracture: More likely capuslitis or possible dislocation.  Use some over the counter anti inflammitory medications and if does not feel better see an orthopod for evaluation.

my knuckles are constantly red, but the skin is not dry / cracked, in fact it's well moisturised. the redness makes it look as if i have been fighting. please could any advise on the potential cause and any solutions? thank you?

Eczema will get you: at a very young age, and it continues throughout your life.  Sometimes a certain lotion or chemical in the lotion will make it worse.  Try to use different unscented moisturizers, even prescription ones, to see if it would help alleviate the problem .  I would put the moisturizer on several times a day. Need to be seen: This color change in your skin can only be diagnosed based on its exact location and appearance.  You need someone to look at it in person.

Hand dermatitits: You might be over washing. Use a non soap cleanser such as cerave cleanser. Use a thick cream to moisturize not a lotion. You might also try an otc mild topical steroid. If no better see your dermatologist.

Several simple thing: Topical steroids otc. Work better if you apply at night and wear barrier gloves. Also, when you shampoo, use a tar-based shapoo which will penetrate the skin of your hands. If these don't work, see your dermatologist!

You probably need: prescription meds, but until you can see dermatologist, try using aquaphor 2-3 times a day and wear cotton gloves over aquaphor at bedtime. Stay away from soaps and use gentle liquid cleansers, avoid hot water and hot showers, and crazy glue can be used to seal cracks

Dry hands: the first step would be to make sure you are not irritating your skin with any topicals. then use an emollient at night- place on your hands and wrap them in plastic wrap(sleep like this).  If it persists, please see your PCP as there are many options available including prescription topical medications.  keep yourself hydrated from the inside - at least 64oz of water daily.

my boyfriend is a 33 yr. old male. he has a serious problem with his right hand becoming dry, chapped, and they crack & start bleeding. 2yrs now.

See a dermatologist: He needs to be examined and because it is only his right hand, a determination made of how he is using that hand and what materials he may be in contact with.  This should be a remediable issue.  If there is something embedded in the hand (foreign body), having it taken out by a hand surgeon may help.

Dermatitis: This was the subject of a recent detective show I watched, I just can't recall the name of the condition.  You definitely need to see an expert on the skin, your local board-certified dermatologist.  I suspect none of the rest of us will have a clue what this condition is.
