Doubtful Fracture: More likely capuslitis or possible dislocation. Use some over the counter anti inflammitory medications and if does not feel better see an orthopod for evaluation.

Very possible : You need an xray, improperly healed fractures of your metacarpals or proximal phalanges can leave you with chronic pain issues, inability to use your hand adequately, poor grasp and a visibly deformed hand. The solution for these latter problems are a lot more complicated with extensive recovery compared to just having a cast or pins in for a few weeks. Do not ignore this problem.

Broken finger: Unusual to break a finger by cracking knuckles as the cracking of knuckles is affecting the joints i.E knuckle per se, and not the bones themeselves. Having said that, you should have it checked out by a hand doctor and not least relative to it being cold. Good luck.
