my daughter is 6 and taking 2 medicines(vancomycin & bromfed (brompheniramine)) i may have accidentally double dosed bromfed (brompheniramine) instead vanco dose. so 1tsp & a 3/4 she ok?

No problem: She might be bit drowsy, or the opposite, you may want to skip the next dose of bromfed, (brompheniramine) continue the other as scheduled

May be!: Dry cough and or wheezing may be asthma. If your chid has been diagnosed with asthma and the cough is bad  use asthma medication, if this is her first time with harsh cough it could be croup. Try using a cool mist humidifier and make sure she is getting plenty of fluids . Most over the counter medications do not work

Probably: After 4 hours the benadryl level in the body has declined. The bromfed has a similar sedating effect but if this is near bedtime I don't see a problem. Most of these products have little benefit to kids under 12 but are not worrisome if given in proper doses.

Yes, he will be: Just skip the next dose, remember it should be taken on as needed basis not regularly, meanwhile use saline nasal wash instead, but if not better in one or two days, please don&#x27;t self medicate revisit his doctor or go to to see his doctor, good luck

May make her sleepy: I find little benefit of these medications at any dose. That said, it is a bit high. I would just let her sleep tonight and only give the 2.5 ml for any other doses you use later on.It should not do any harm.

Do not give.: There are many studies showing that over-the-counter cough medicines do not work for children, and in fact, many can cause side effects in some kids. In my opinion, these medicines do not work and do more harm. I hope you child feels better soon.

Yes: Bromfed (brompheniramine) is a med for asthma which has an antihistamine in it so it may may make him feel groggy as a side effect.  Montelukast is an asthma drug which works in a different way As a leukatriene receptor antagonist. They don't have any drug interactions with each other. Just be more careful next time.

No problem: He will be just fine. If he vomited so quickly with the first dose, no t much was absorbed.

Medicine question: All medicines lose their effectiveness with time.  The expiration date is a rough guess of when this will happen.

is it ok to take bromfed dm if it expired on 5/31/21?

Accepted Answer

: The expiration date on these OTC meds is the last date when its potency is considered valid. Use after that date does not make it dangerous. It is most likely not as effective. If it is used regularly by any family member I would consider tossing and replacing it. I don't find it a particularly helpful medication for adults and never use it for kids.
