i got head butted by one of my friends. my nose made a crunching sound like if you squeezed a bag of chips. nose is slightly swollen, pain at bridge of nose .is my nose broke ? should i go to er ?

Accepted Answer

No to ER: Even if your nose is broken, there is nothing they do about it in ER anyway, so I wouldn't expose myself to possible Covid to go there. Ice it for 48-72 hours,  then if looks deformed, still a lot of pain, then get it evaluated. This may be a good time for a virtual visit - if at that time your primary physician feels it might be broken, they can then order an xray or facial bone CT to assess.

why am i constantly getting migraines above eyes n bridge of nose, always more on left side ?

Ocular Migraine: is very common. Pain behind or near the eye on one side of the head or the other is another mark of a migraine. Once a diagnosis of migraine, effective management of migraine involves three specific strategies: 1) patient education, 2) non-pharmacological management (e.g. acupuncture), and 3) pharmacological (medical) management. See an orofacial pain or headache specialist.

hit the left side bridge of  nose last night. this am my left jaw and side of face pound/ ache. should i ice?

Trauma: Yes you should ice but need to have it looked at to rule out a fracture.

Sinusitis: Diagnosis is hard to be done without examination but possible sinusitis can cause all this. Some sinuses are closed in and do not drain so you will not see a colored nasal discharge. You would feel the pressure in the sinuses though and because of the nasal congestion can get the blood.
it seems severe enough that you should go see your physician

Nose swelling: It can be a sinus infection.  If it doesn't go away quickly, see your doctor to be evaluated.

smacked bridge of nose 2 months ago (not broken), injury left small lumps in skin, can break them up with message but they reform. what are these?

Lipomas?: I am not sure of the actual name for these, but when you hit your nose you crushed the fat layer under the skin. It responds by scarring just like the skin itself does.  When that happens under the skin you get these firm little nodules.  They won't hurt you. Sometimes they will go away by themselves.  Try to leave them alone if you can cause you may be aggregating them with the massage.

an 'invisible'  itch on both sides of middle/bridge of nose. no redness or other visible change. recurring for about 6 months. do not wear glasses.

Allergy: Sudden itching could be caused by allergen. If prolonged could be tissue stretching underneath, or interference fields. Interference fields are created due to scars or trauma in these areas. Apply locally castor oil and small piece of kinesio-tape for 24 hours. Use local hot packs over the tapes these will remove the local irritants. The other treatment is to mud pack these areas with k-tape daily.

can occasionally wearing glasses or blowing nose from a cold cause bump on bridge of nose to grow in adults? seems overnight bump on r side got bigger

NO: Neither will cause a "growth" as you describe...

hi my 15 month old has tripped over and hit his nose on the tv side it's got a cut on the bridge of nose and bad bruising but no blood is it broken?

Depends: Look at the symmetry of his nose. Apart from the edema, if his nose looks crooked, it is fractured. If it looks symmetrical, there may be a nondsiplaced fracture or no fracture which does not require any surgical intervention. See an ENT doctor asap!

is it normal for sinusitis to cause pretty severe swelling to the face (sides of nose, bridge of nose, corners of the eyes and under eyes)?

Accepted Answer

Not ok: Tthat can be signs of a serious infection (cellulitis) that requires prompt medical evaluation.
