i am a 39 year old female. yesterday, i had botox injections in my forehead and juvaderm in my lips and chin. is it safe to take sumatriptan? i woke up with a migraine and was hoping to take it?

No lumps with Botox: Botox relaxes muscles that are hyperactive and so wrinkles caused by those muscles are smoothed. It is not a dermal filler such as juvederm which is injected directly into wrinkles. Be careful with Botox in the forehead  because sometimes those wrinkles are the result of muscles working to hold up a sagging brow; in that case the price of reducing the wrinkles may be brow droop.

can a botched botox injection cause permanent nerve damage? i am thinking of getting botox in my forehead.  should i be concerned that injecting a toxin like this could possiblye cause permanent nerve damage?

Injection : Injection of Botox in a prescribe manner as approved by the fda should not cause permanent injury to a nerve unless the nerve is pierced or transected by the needle (highly unlikely).  Botox works by permanently inactivating the junction between motor nerves and the muscle they innervate.  This causes a transient paralysis of the muscle leading to a smoother appearance, or, in the case of temporal headaches, relief from pain.  Recovery from the effects of botox, usually in 3 to 4 months depending upon the dose and location, occurs as new nerve endings reconnect to the muscle allowing it it function again.  There are some case reports that repeated injections can cause permanent relaxation of the muscle.

No.: No, careful injection, including careful placement of injections, and spreading small doses rather than giving large doses in one area, can help prevent droopy eyelid.

Depends: Usually the treatment is tailored to your needs. I would suspect 6-8 small injections per side. Very tolerable with a tiny needle. Depending on how deep the wrinkles are, the results can vary but without trying, you can't really predict how significant the results can be.

my mother is takin percocet and toradol injections for severe migraines until she gets these botox injections in her head. she is nauseated and not eating or drinking. what do i do ?

Botox takes 5 days: In the meantime there may be other medications such as Imitrex or Maxalt or zomig (zolmitriptan) that may offer more immediate relief. While Percocet may provide pain relief, it generally does not treat the cause of migraines and is habit forming.

why do people get botox on their forehead? it seems like overkill.

Smooth forehead: People who are bothered by the lines in their foreheads get Botox there to smooth or relax those wrinkles.  A few units (7.5-10) is enough to achieve a nice and natural effect and not make the forehead completely "plastic" looking.  I like to maintain a band of about 2cm above each brow so that the patient can still animate and lift their brows.  Brands are Botox cosmetic, Dysport and xeomin (incobotulinumtoxin a).

Yes, but gently: Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is OK to have a forehead massage 2 days after botox injection, but I still recommend that you use gentle pressure for a total of a week to prevent inadvertent spread of the botox. Good luck!

i have a dent in my forehead after botox.  risk it is permanent?  nurse used lots of saline & about 7 units into  area thats now dented. been 2 mos.

Don't get botox: Your body is beautiful without cosmetic procedures. Don't do this to yourself. Any short term problem from botox will resolve, but there are long term consequences of repeated botox.
