6 inherited alpert sybdrome and sickle cell disease
7meds like aspirin, anticoagulants, anti cancer drugs
8 some time strenuous exercise can too
blood can be visible or microscopic.

if a urinalysis shows no blood in urine  a week after a single gross hematuria event, does that mean the issue has resolved? (i.e. possible kidney stone passed, etc). i am on eliquis and had left flank plain 4 days before gross hematuria occurrence?

Yes, possible: Above scenario appears consistent with a passed stone, however you are left with the 2 conditions that contributed, taking a blood thinner and the propensity of forming stones and the risk for another such episode in the future remains high. Make sure all your treating docs are aware of recent events.

i've had a robotic assisted radical prostatectomy on october last year. four months after surgery my psa was 0.003 which was great, but now, eleven months after it's 0.02, which is still low, but yet rising. shoul'd i be worried?

PSA prostate surgery: What you need to ask your team is what has been their experience using the lab in which the tests were done. Seems very low to me which is good but check with them. They know you and lab better than we ever will.

Not by intercourse.: During a radical prostatectomy, the prostate & seminal vesicles are removed, and disconnected  from the vas deferens on both sides. There is no longer any ejaculate with orgasm. To father children, sperm must be recovered from the testis and ivf performed, or previously banked-sperm used.

It varies: Depending on the procedure, incontinence is normal and usually lasts from a month or so, up to a year in most cases.  By that point most men will have regained most of their sphincter function.  Permanent incontinence can be a long term issue with prostatectomy, so ask your urologist about his continence rates compared to the national average.

what is the recovery time after a radical prostatectomy?

Varies. : After surgery, patients are admitted with a catheter in place & often a pelvic drain. Hospital stay is 1-2 days, & the drain is removed usually at discharge. The urinary catheter is removed at 5-7 days. Almost all men at this point will experience urinary leakage & erectile dysfunction, which improves with time. At 6 weeks, the incision site should be healed and all activity restrictions lifted.
