Co morbid dx: Most likely both- anxiety and mood disorders tend to go hand and hand.

Probably: Bipolar disorder could account for social anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive thoughts, and compulsive behaviors so you do not necessarily have 4 separate disorders. Mood stabilization may help to allay the other syptoms. A mood stabilizer such as depakote, lithium, lamictal, trileptal, seroquel, or Abilify (aripiprazole) would be the place to start. Discuss this with your psychiatrist.

Sometimes.: Anxious ruminations & agitated depression can certainly present with racing thoughts.  I can't think of any reason why ocd might not somtimes present similarly.

: I wouldn't expect it from gene therapy. The gene complement of the billions of nerves in the brain are stable/static. What you have and how it reacts to neural transmitters is not something I see gene therapy altering with our current level of technology. Hope is good. There may be other successes in area we have not studied.

Too many labels: If you have bipolar disorder you can eliminate the depressive diagnosis because it includes that.  The only way for a diagnosis to me made it with the help of a mental health professional.  Please see on to get the support you need.  Peace and good health.  Medicine alone is probably not enough.  Cognitive behavioral therapy may help also.

Multifactorial: Bipolar disorder is a type of mood disorder. It's origin can be multifactorial, genetics plays a big role into it, so having a  family member with bipolar disorder or other mood disorder puts you at a increase risk compared to the general population. Other things like biological factors such as history of drugs can presipitate bipolar like symptoms.

Manic episodes typically last a few days with decreased need for sleep, increased self esteem, energy, and activity. Depressive episodes are 2 weeks or more of decreased energy, motivation, and self esteem. Episodes may be separated by days, weeks, months, or even years.

Usually: Bipolar disorder is often inherited, though the rates from parent to child are around 10%. If one of your parents has bipolar disorder, its a good idea to be aware of the symptoms and see a professional if they develop so one can learn how to cope and likely get on a mood stabilizer.

Manic episodes include an inflated sense of self worth, decreased need for sleep, increased activiety. Recommend: Working with a child psychiatrist. Psychiatric medications are often required. Individual therapy (ie. Cognitive behavioratherapy or psychotherapy)  and family therapy  are usually indicated. Group therapy may be benificial and inpatient psychiatric treatment may be needed in some cases.
