I wouldn't expect it from gene therapy. The gene complement of the billions of nerves in the brain are stable/static. What you have and how it reacts to neural transmitters is not something I see gene therapy altering with our current level of technology. Hope is good. There may be other successes in area we have not studied.

We are at the cusp of voluminous research projects looking at new psychotropics and hallucinogenic agents to treat the very conditions you describe. Such items as mescaline, LSD, MDMA, and various cannabinoids are being studied at my research center, currently. Stay tuned, as this is about to be revolutionary, but will take a few years to do the projects.
