Tailbone pain: Yes, please see your primary care doctor.  You may have bumped it w/out knowing.  It may also be arthritic.  Your doc will figure it out and help.  Peace and good health.

i have a broken bone in my neck, i am wearing a neck brace, is it ok if i lay on my back or is it better if i sleep sitting up the bone is broken on the second verterbrae , is it better if i sleep sitting up or laying down

Pain : Pain level will give you the answer. As a rule of thumb it is better to sleep in a semitting position. Consult with your surgeon for details.

Accepted Answer

: You can but it may disturb your natural sleep pattern.  The need to sleep in sitting position may also belie an underlying medical condition that needs further evaluation.  I would definitely discuss this need with your PCP so that he can further evaluate you medically  for something else going on.

Disc: Most disk problems can resolve within 4-6 weeks without specific treatment except anti-inflammatory medications, pain medication and occasional muscle relaxants. I don't recommend active exercises involving your back while you're symptomatic. Avoid prolonged sitting or standing but stay normally active. If symptoms  remain severe after 4to6 weeks, consult pain management specialist or neurosurgeon

Not really: Not really...However, when you are cold, your body needs to use more energy to maintain a stable core temperature. This requires more energy expenditure...Energy which could be used for immune function if you were especially debilitated or weak in the first place.

Shouldn't be a prob: Once the medicine runs out, you are essentially breathing in air.  this should not be a problem at all.

Get used to it...: I can sleep sitting up almost anywhere.  I say it's from all the boring medical texts i had to read as a student - we get a lot of practice... And i mean sitting straight up on the couch.  You will only have to do this for a short period of time and sooner or later your body will just crave sleep so much that it will start to come easier.  Have faith!

Weight gain: No. What you eat has more to do with weight gain than sleep position.

Probably heel pain?: The pain in the bottom of the foot, especially after getting up on it after sitting or sleeping is usually heel spur syndrome associated with inflammation of the plantar ligament.
You should see your podiatrist and have x-rays taken to properly evaluate your problem.

my husband sleeps whenever he is still. if he's sitting, he's sleeping. now, he's falling asleep at the wheel. what could this be?

Drowsiness could be : A side effect of his medications, a sign of sleep apnea, fatigue, exhaustion etc. Let him see his dr right away. Please tell him not to drive a vehicle until this problem is resolved. We don't want him to get hurt  or hurt someone in an mva. God bless you!
