what is the best sleeping position for upper back pain? i used 2 pillows, but then i started having upper back pain. i switched to 1 pillow, & the pain mostly went away, but my neck became stiff & achy. i bought new pillows, but its still happening?

: It may not be the sleeping position or pillow that is helping you because you are probably tense. Massager may be preferred, but that does not stop you from adjusting your pillows. The flat and one pillow may be better than two and the important thing is to allow the muscles and spine to align so there is no strain nor tensing when you sleep.

Back pain: Sleep flat in bed without a pillow. A solid matress is also helpful.

Back pain: Severe upper back pain from sleeping in awkward positions would be unusual. At this time I recommend applying cold alternating with heat intermittently and taking anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve. Applying liniment like bengay may help. If symptoms persist or worsen, see your physician for evaluation and testing.

Chest, back pain: Please make an appointment to see a medical doctor to discuss your chest and upper back pain and insomnia. A good history and physical exam can help rule out anything serious such as cardiac disease and the doctor can advise as to pain treatment. Often young women suffer from breast cyst pain and muscle/skeletal strain syndromes.

Rest: Your symptoms could be from fatigue or illness.  In either case; rest, good nutrition and hydration is the path toward feeling better.  Hopefully others in the family will be feeling better soon and can help take on some of the burden. If not, ask close friends or family to help out an afternoon or two so you get some relief. Get it checked: We do not have enough information to tell you what is causing your pain . You have had it for few months . It is about time you consult your doctor to find out what is causing the pain and get it treated. It may be Muscular pain  or pain coming from the thoracic or Cervicsl spine .you may need meds and /or Physical therapy and other trsatment depending on the Diagnosis. Consult your Doctor

600-800mg IBU: Could be many things but I would account the issue to current dental treatment and the filling may only be a slight part of it.  I would start with 600-800mg ibuprofen (depending on medical issues or allergies) to control inflammation/pain (especially before bed).  You might also be clenching from the treatment as well as a way of coping with other pain experienced during treatment. eval needed.

Upper back pain: Upper back pain involves the thoracic vertebral bodies, the rib heads that attach to the spine, the tendons and ligaments that insert on/in the spine, and discs between the vertebrae. The tendons and ligaments become more lax during pregnancy in preparation for the baby going through the birth canal. Massage and ice may relieve the pain. See a spine specialist for a diagnosis and treatment.
