are burpee exercises recommended for people with backache?

Back ache with squat: If you have a pre-existing condition with your back, then doing "burpees" can inflame the back muscles if done incorrectly.  Crossfit is an intense workout that stains many parts of your body. If doing this exercise creates pain, i would rest and relax with a massage or nsaids like advil (ibuprofen) will help in the short term. If this does not help, then i would see your primary physician.

Ouch: If you have a strained groin burpees are gonna hurt!  I'm not sure I know what you mean by glutes not firing.  If you want to strengthen the glutes squats and lunges are good but WAIT til the groin is better-at least 2 weeks. In the meantime water exercises, Pilates or yoga.

Yes: Yes, definitely.  By placing your body through a variety of movements, your core is working almost the entire time during burpees.

Maybe: I would be concerned about that.  Burpees induce a lot of intra-abdominal pressure.  If the inguinal hernia is reducible, it may be ok but if not, i would be concerned.  The number of burpees doesn't matter.  Even one burpee if it causes enough pressure at the right spot can cause strangulation of bowel in the hernia sac.  Best to get the hernia repaired and discuss with your surgeon.

Cut back: Time will tell.  If it is a serious injury/tear to the meniscus it probably womt get better.  If it is a minor injury, it should improve with a few days of cutting back.  Don't hesitate to be seen if it does not improve.

i'm obese,been doing zumba/tabata for 3 months. when i try to do burpees i get a pins and needles sensation in my calf upon jumping up. any ideas?

Nerve pain: A pins and needles sensation is usually indicative of nerve pain. If you have been relatively inactive and then start a high intensity workout program, the sensory nerves in your lower extremities are experiencing stretching they are not accustomed to. Stick with the workouts, you are not causing any long term problems. Applaud you for getting fit!
