Ask for neuro: Ask to see neurologist.Bell's palsy is the most common cause of facial paralysis worldwide. However recurrent paralysis of the facial nerve is an unusual occurrence and reported in only 7-8% of all Bell's palsy cases.There is either a recurrent infection with herpes simplex or some other neuro issue such as ischemia..This is vry unusual for this to happen and needs further workup.

Why 90%: You are experiencing tension and stress which has nothing to do with your Bell's palsy .
Try to relax,ask your doctor for some medication like Ativan (lorazepam) 0.5 mg to be taking around your bed time, because it could make you sleepy, apply heat around the area behind your ear and your neck.

No: Pain is not typical of bell's palsy. However, if the eye does not close as a result if the bell's, then significant drying of the eye can occur. Pain from the eye is poorly localized, so your pain may be from this. You need to see an eye md to see if this is the case.

Could be shingles: Varicella zoster, or shingles, can affect the ear canal and also affect the 7th cranial nerve causing bell's palsy.  Have a dr look carefully into your ear canal to see if there are any rashes evident of shingles there. Good luck.

Perhaps a variant: Your description leads me to wonder if, in your case, the bell's palsy was due to "herpes zoster oticus" or ramsey-hunt syndrome.  You may have possessed a tell-tail eruption if your doctor looked into your ear.  Discuss with your neurologist, and decide upon an approach.

dr. i had a bell's palsy last sept. and after a month i can move everything back as normal. i am just wondering why is it that everytime i do jogging, the affected area will be painful including my head and my ear as well. is it normal? thank u

It is not unusual.: It is not uncommon after a nerve injury (such as bell's palsy) to experience the symptoms again during times when the body is under a stress of some sort - so you might experience symptoms when you are ill, not sleeping well, or, as in your case, exercising.

after going through bells palsy on right side i got crocodile tears for about 10 months now it was ok for almost 9 months it would tear while i ate nothing else but now my head starts hurting after tearing on the effected side which goes down the ear?
