which medication should i take if i get stung by a bee whilst trailrunning (and not get drowsy). not sure if i am allergic ?

Bee venom allergy: you don't know if you are allergic to bee venom, and you want to protect yourself in case of accidental exposure, and don't get drowsy. Less sedating antihistamines as loratadine or cetirizine, see which one doesn't cause drowsiness and keep it handy. Epinephrine pen may be needed if u r extremely allergic, precautions to not attract bees: avoid bright light colors,exposed sugars, open soda cans,.

i got stung by a bee on my foot 2 days ago and its very swollen and itchy.
is there any over the counter medication i can get?
i've had this before and it took a week to get better without medication.

Diphenhydramine: Diphenhydramine (benedryl) or any similar anti-histamine may help stop further swelling. However, don't expect anything to quickly remove what is there. You describe a classical arthus reaction where the body releases chemicals at a bite site. The chemicals turn capillaries into soaker hoses that flood the area with serum to dilute bite toxins.it takes time for this swelling to gradually fade.

got stung by a honey bee on toe 2 days ago and foot is swollen. got tetanus shot and medications yesterday but became purplish today. is it normal?

No: No, I would not say it is normal.  It may be just related to the sting, but you may also be developing an infection in that area.  I would not hesitate to be seen.

i have bee diagnosed with tb, my twins are 5year and 3months old. 
we are taking them for x-rays tomorrow. if their lungs are clear should they still receive preventative medication?

Probably yes: The care plan for members of the family depend on the particular details in that case and on the local TB prevention guidelines. In the US, if a young child has been living with a TB-infected caretaker, the child is presumed exposed. If the child has no symptoms and has a normal chest x-ray, that child probably will receive preventive treatment for 9 months (sometimes 6 months).

were getting the covid vaccine and i heard people with allergies that carry an epipen shouldnt get one. im allergic to some medications. my tongue swelled up from one medication and i had to go to the er. im also allergic to bees?

At Risk: Any person with a history of severe allergic reactions should not get the vaccine according to the CDC. If your tongue swelled up and you had to go to the ER, you had a severe allergic reaction and should not receive the vaccine. You will be at a much higher risk for an acute allergic reaction to the vaccine and may develop anaphylaxis.

No------yes: Not significant. Note that if it were antibacterial, that might be bad. For example, Bacitracin and neosporin have been shown to be harmful to use on cuts or burns. And, yes, you can put it on cuts. But it is less useful on cuts than vaseline.

i stepped on a bee and tried to pull the stinger out but only half came out. what happens to the other half?

Try to scrape it out: With a credit card or other flat surface. Venom sac / stinger contains venom which enters your skin. Clean area w soap ; warm water. Apply ice in 10 min. Increments (10 on/10 off). Can try tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling. Make paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply. Need tetanus shot every 10 years. Throat, airway, mouth swelling or difficulty breathing?

See an allergist: Tricky question. Most people are allergic to bee venom, meaning they will have a large, local reaction to a sting. Tests show a good proportion are more allergic than average. BUT tests don't reliably predict whether one will go on to allergic shock. So we are faced with evaluating patients after they have had serioius allergic reactions and treating them will venom allergy shots (very effective).

History/testing: Either you have a history of a reaction to a bee sting, whether localized or generalized, or you can be tested by an allergist, if concerned you might get a reaction if stung accidentally, please keep any antihistaminic handy and ask your doctor to prescribe you epinephrine pen if you're at high exposure risk, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area
