See an allergist: Tricky question. Most people are allergic to bee venom, meaning they will have a large, local reaction to a sting. Tests show a good proportion are more allergic than average. BUT tests don't reliably predict whether one will go on to allergic shock. So we are faced with evaluating patients after they have had serioius allergic reactions and treating them will venom allergy shots (very effective).

Bee sting allergy: You can be tested for allergies Or if you have had bad reaction to actual sting. Systemic reactions to wasp & bee stings can include hives, flushing, swelling of the tongue, mouth , lips & airway; problems breathing, dizziness and in severe cases it can be fatal.
