Heredity: Many population groups have black spots on the tongue. It has been said to be more common in those of mediterranean descent. Usually no problem. Ask other family members if they have it.

Doubt your label: A broken blood vessel would scar and heal over time. An enlarged venous malformation might be possible.What would be more likely would be a collection of jumbled blood vessels called a hemangioma. All of these possibilities are evident to a trained observer on physical exam. Whether or not some procedure might be possible to remove it could be determined at that time.

Uhhh...: While there are congenital deformities of the mouth, I have never heard of a baby being born without a month. This may have occurred, but it would be very uncommon.

i have streptococcus viridans in my mouth. i'm pregnant and due any day now. can i kiss my baby when he's born with this bacteria in my mouth?

No problem: Strep viridans is considered a "commensal organism" which means it is a normal colonizer in our mouths. It is not a pathogen in it's normal location, and it only becomes a problem when people who have heart valve problems have dental work. Kiss your baby to your heart's content!  and congratulations :).

May never know!: We may never know why you were born with a small split on the tip of your tongue.  If you have always had it and it hasn't changed or gotten worse and is not painful or ulcerated, i would just have your dentist keep an eye on it.  Does anyone else in your family share a similar condition?

Geographic Tongue: Geographic tongue is a harmless condition affecting the surface of your tongue. The tongue is normally covered with tiny, pinkish-white bumps (papillae). With geographic tongue, patches on the surface of the tongue are missing papillae and appear as smooth, red "islands, " often with slightly raised borders. This condition can run in families and is thus genetic.

i get thrush on my tongue if i haven't brushed my teeth yet or if i haven't eaten in while.my mom says i was born with it.what is it and can i fix it?

Thrush?: Thrush is a fungal infection and not related to eating or not eating.  One is not born with it.  You might have a coated tongue, lichen planus, or somethng else.  For now, start to use a tongue scraper once a day and see if that can solve the problem.  You also need to see a dentist to have it evaluated for a proper diagnosis and treatment if necessary.

Prob okay, but...: hairy black tongue can occur in infants because of infection or failure of the tongue papillae (bumps) to properly shed their cells like it should. it is important to distinguish if the black could be melanin, since that might indicated a skin disorder. black 'spots' can also be a sign of a genetic condition, so it is important to have this evaluated further, likely with biopsy.
