Thrush?: Thrush is a fungal infection and not related to eating or not eating. One is not born with it. You might have a coated tongue, lichen planus, or somethng else. For now, start to use a tongue scraper once a day and see if that can solve the problem. You also need to see a dentist to have it evaluated for a proper diagnosis and treatment if necessary.

Tongue health: The skin on the tongue surface will turn grayish white as it ages & normal feeding activity tends to strip off the older cells & leave pinkish red new cells behind. Some foods will leave a whitish appearance when particles are trapped within the many tongue recesses & are often mistaken for thrush. If you have no sx other than a pale tongue, ignore it.
