Diet and Activity: Key is to burn more calories than you take in.  Body likes to use carbohydrates (sugar/pasta/bread/potatoes) Decreasing carbohydrates helpful.  Eat more lean protein like chicken, fish, nuts, beans. Avoid saturated fats (animal fats).  Need some fat so plant based fats best.  Vegs and fruits have fiber which reduces hunger. Lastly need exercise, 30-40 min walking 5x/wk to start. 1500-1800 cal/day

If you think: You need laxatives every other day to lose weight, you don't need a diet, you need a psychiatrist for your eating disorder.

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: To lose 100 lbs in 4 months, you would have to take in about 3000 calories less per day than you are burning up (1 lb= 3500 calories).  Unless you are currently taking in well over 3000 calories daily and are able to make changes in your diet to eliminate at least 2500, then do exercise to burn another 500 calories daily, it is not possible to lose that much in 4 months (and probably not healthy)

It will not!: But once in ketosis, 40-50g is adequate. Exercise while doing this.  It should become a lifestyle, not a diet.  I've been low carb since 1995. Avoid processed meats with salt and additives.  Get your low cal but nutritious veggies!

Basically!: The low carb/glycemic index diet diminishes the secretion of insulin.  Without high Insulin levels, fat cannot be put in a fat cell.  When Insulin levels are low, you burn more fat. Therefore, avoiding sugars and starches does just that! in metabolic syndrome, the number one cause of cv death, Insulin resistance is the culprit with high levels which are toxic!

The problem with most diets is that they are a variance from the normal eating pattern and most revert to that even after losing the weight and so they gain the weight again. Very hard!: Nan, or indian bread is good, but forbidden.  Indian diets are heavy into rice, also to be avoided. Curries without rice, but with lamb, or chicken, and bell peppers, onions are very good.  Virtually all vegetables are good as well.  Sweet deserts, bread, and rice need be avoided.  This as made it difficult for many of my indian patients!
