Stable: You must be in a stable position before this surgery, or there will not be any reference position for positioning and no stability. Also, after healing the displaced disks might not reposition properly and the surgery will have been for naught. Get stable first. Often this requires splint therapy (24/7) for 6-8 months or as long as it takes to recapture and reposition the disks. 2nd opinion.

Nonsteroidals: All NSAIDs like etolodac have side effects and "black box" warnings. which include cardiovascular events like stroke and heart attack. And etolodac can cause or worse hypertension .Drugs like etolodac have short half lives, so they must be taken 3 or4 times daily, leading to the "up/down" of pain control. Other longer acting NSAIDs are a better choice--mobic or celecoxib, which are once daily.
