Exercise: You may be simply deconditioned form inactivity. The good news is your rheumatolgy workup is negative. If not active, begina program of burst interval high and low impact aerobics. Consult a physicial therpay and/or a personal trainer. Use Advil (ibuprofen) ( low dose) until joint pain resolves. BioFreeze is another excellent product for joint pain.

Bextra: You are quite correct it was quite effcetive, the closest to it would be celebrex (celecoxib).

Cortisone shots: Cortisone or steroid shots into an inflamed joint such as a shoulder can be very effective in reducing pain and inflammation.  If the pain returns, then additional evaluation and treatment is necessary to determine if there is more damage present other than inflammation, such as a soft tissue tear or other abnormality.

Eicosapentanoic acid: Epa can help but the only proven treatments are prescription meds such as naproxen( nonsteroidals) , steroids, and more specific medications such as biologic drugs (for rheumatoid arthritis) , CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) for lupus or sarcoid, and other immunosuppressive medications for other types of arthritis. 
Scurvy arthritis is cured by vitamin c, low thyroid arthritis is cured by thyroid hormone.

Yes: There are many antiinflammatory medications on the market. They all have the potential for side effects and some work well in some patients while others do not. Your doctor should be able to discuss substitutes for you.

Well you might: start with classic PHYSICAL THERAPY by a licensed therapist. This along with visit to  a PHYSIATRIST  may be helpful!  YOGA as very helpful as an ADJUNCT to not a REPLACEMENT for standard medical treatment. My Opinion Only

Accepted Answer

No: Certain people may be sensitive to various substances and food, but it is individual response and this is  not a general response. If you have  sensitivity to any of these you may have something happen but i can not suggest that it may increase the knee inflammation.

had a bad flare.doc put me on prednisone cause x-ray showed inflamation.waiting on blood test for rheumatoid arthritis.is it norm to still feel bad?

Yes: RA is not diagnosed be a blood test or X- Ray.  The diagnostic criterea include lab as well as the duration of symptoms and the features on your physical examination.  Make sure you are diagnosed by someone with experience in this disease.

Unlikly: Inflamation of joints of the hands and feet sounds like arthiritis. These are not the typical symptoms from cancer. You need to ask your joint specialist(rheumatologist) to help you.

i have arthritis in my fingers (i am 48 years old). i have been given celebrex in the past for the inflamation, but the pain is getting worse even with taking the anti-inflamatories. is there anything else that i can do to ease the pain?

Yes: Hopefully your GP has assisted you in determining what type of Arthritis you have (Rheumatoid / Osteoarthritis / Other) as they are managed &amp; respond differently to the various medications available.

I assume you were started on Celebrex for Osteoarthritis &amp; therefor - YES - there are definitely various other treatment modalities which might be more effective that you &amp; your GP could consider.
