You : You should be fine based upon what you describe to see the podiatrist tomorrow. The concern is whether this will get infected. A cellulitis on the ankle typically looks bright red and gets worse over time without treatment.Fever and chills and worsening in redness would be cause for immediate concern.

Ant bites- not bad: Ants are insects, and all insects may bite people and cause inflammation and itching, and sometimes pain. These are not dangerous and can be treated with benadyl pills and Hydrocortisone cream.  You can stay home from work for many reasons, but this is not a good one and you will miss a day of work and a paycheck, for not a serious problem.

Exudate vs. pus: The clear fluid is likely exudate, a response of your body to the injury.  Cool compresses with aloe vera gel may help.  Liquid which is opaque or colored could indicate an infection, which should likely be treated by your doctor.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Glad you didn't need an Epipen this time but if you have a history of breathing problems in past with ant bites don't leave home without it! Benadryl (diphenhydramine) usually first emergent medication I recommend. Keep foot elevated. Compresses 50/50 white vinegar/water. Make appointment to see your MD asap.

Of course first ?: is where were you recently, as this certainly could be a bite reaction. But other conditions can cause bite like inflammation including something simple like folliculitis. I would see a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment

I wouldn't: Fire ants inject carbolic acid which gives rise to a sterile (not pus) cloudy blistering. Leave it alone &amp; the body will usually process the blister over time &amp; heal it. Pop it  &amp; you open the skin to any nearby germs that could invade/infect.

Possible infection : Any insect bite, no matter what the bug, has the potential to get infected, as there is a break in the normal skin integrity. Add scratching to the mix and even more risk of the area getting infected. Wash area well with antibacterial soap, apply a topical antibiotic cream, and if not getting better in a few days or if worsening or fever,  have your primary care doctor check things out.

are fire ant bites harmful while pregnant? i didn't realize, but my living room chair near a window had fire ants in them and i have been getting bit for the last week on my hands and ankles. it itches and left a bunch of bumps. can this harm baby?

Not really: Fire ants inject carbonic acid in bites that form a sterile abscess. It is a localized process that does not enter your system further. Although it is an irritant, it is no threat to the baby.
