A cellulitis on the ankle typically looks bright red and gets worse over time without treatment.Fever and chills and worsening in redness would be cause for immediate concern.

Diabetic: Being a diebetic means the likelihood of reduced blood flow to extremities like feet and hands . Be sure it is not getting worse by drawing an outline around the exact edge of the swelling. If the swelling and redness starts to extend beyond the outline you need to see an md, or a foot specialist (podiatrist). Do not wait as condition can get real bad fast especially with diabetes.
