Longer recovery: Fracture may heal in 6-8 weeks but high ankle can take additional weeks. Associated hip knee foot pain is compensatory so it may realistically take 3-6 momyjs

Depends: Without a proper exam, it's hard to say. Sprain treatment can range from a few weeks of compression to months of casting or even surgery. The best person to ask is the doctor treating you, whether it be an orthopedist or podiatrist. If you don't allow adequate healing time, you risk an unstable ankle.

As long as: Your doc states. (which is usually 1-2 weeks).
A new one may be applied after that but anymore that two weeks in a soft cast and that foot is going to stink.

: It is likely a good idea to keep the air cast on during sleep to avoid discomfort of the sprained ankle that will disturb your sleep. Keeping the ankle in a stable neutral position and preventing it from moving during sleep will allow you to fall asleep as well as stay asleep since the pain of moving your ankle will be less. just got plaster cast for grade 3 ankle sprain today. how long will i have to wear. will this fix it?

More info needed: If the x ray showed a tiny avulsion fracture answer is 6-8 weeks hopefully with some Physical Therapy to increase range of motion and strength. If the tendon tear ("Grade 3 suggests a tear with some bruising occured) is small 3-4 weeks should do the trick 4-5 with more significant tears. If you are not improving MRI study to evaluate the tendons is indicated.

plaster cast for grade 3 ankle sprain. still have tremendous pain. especially when i put weight on it. is this normal. when will pain stop?

Get checked: This one is for the doctor who casted you. You could have a compartment syndrome which is an emergency. You could have delayed healing of your sprain, granted your ankle/foot was not broken. Please see your doctor as soon as possible or to the emergency room

Yes: Try rowing and the hand bike. I would avoid exercises that stress your ankle too much while it is in the cast.
