Options..: If colon cancer spreads only to the liver, it can still potentially be treated successfully.  There are multiple liver treatment options (surgery, radiofrequency ablation, sbrt, endovascular chemo/y90, etc.).  He should be seen at a cancer center with a large liver surgery/treatment volume.

Focal lesions: A variety of conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease can cause focal lesions. Talk to the doc who performed the procedure as he or she might have taken biopsies as well.

This : This patient has a very difficult problem to address and her age does not make things easier. You are describing metastatic cancer, and typically patients will stay on chemotherapy indefinitely as long as they can  tolerate it and as long as the patient wishes to pursue this treatment. If she "went down hill" as you describe, i take that to mean she is not tolerating the chemotherapy. The hard truth is that very few patients will find a "cure" with chemo alone. The life expectancy varies depending on the nature of the tumor and the tolerance of the patient on chemotherapy. A patient not tolerating chemotherapy may need to consider other options such as hospice. Doctors do not like discussing end of life issues, but you need to corral this doctor and get the straight talk from him. Talk to the patient and see what she wants. The important issue is that the patient must maintain autonomy in her decision and some dignity in life as well. The local cancer society may have some literature describing your situation and there may be some help groups available for emotional support. If she belongs to a church, now is the time to circle her with friends and family who will support her emotionally and spiritually as well.

No: Colon polyps are mucosal tissue overgrowth which are not radio graphically sensitive. On the other hand, radioopaque lesions in salivary glands are soft tissue calcification which could be secondary to salivary duct calcification to chronic gland infection. Both are not related.

Yes, it is.: If you have colon cancer and spots in your liver, those spots are most likely due to metastatic disease. Benign liver cysts are common and can cause spots in your liver, but the radiologists can usually tell the difference. You are very young to have metastatic colon cancer, but it is possible. You may need a biopsy of the liver lesions to determine what they are. Best of luck to you.

PET better: PET when performed with CAT is extremely accurate since the CAT scan identifies areas on MRI but will light up when a shadow on the scan is truly malignant.  Lesions in the liver can be benign such as hemangiomas and a metastatic focus in pancreas is very rare.  I would repeat the MRI in 4 months to see if there is progression.  At the same time the best approach is removing the primary

Not enough: Need to assess for Kras and Nras mutation IF she is wild type she should receive FOLFIRI  and Erbitux

If she has mutation the treatment of choice FOLFOX and Avastin

Life expex 22 - 26 months... If responsive disease can be extended with other agents and survival can extend several years.

New agents add to OS   sequencing of therapy is important to extend Overal survival

Help what?: If you referring to cleansing your colon..It can clean out your stool, but as you eat stool will re-accumulate. Is there a health benefit? I am not aware of anything signifincant, at least not in the long run.
As a matter of fact, excessive use/missue of such can destroy normal colonic bacteria and predispose to other problems/infections. Not recommended.
