i woke up with a black eye, but i never suffered from face trauma. could this be related to my allergies?

Probably not: It would be unusual to have a black eye( assuming like a bruise) only on one side from allergies. I would have that checked out with your primary care doctor or an ophthalmologist( eye specialist).

Reaction: I feel it's important to have a precise diagnosis of such a facial reaction so that it's properly diagnosed and treated. Possibilities include contact dermatitis or herpes simplex eruption. Examination is needed by your MD or dermatologist. The burning sensation in the eyes may be part of the reaction or be caused by limited blinking while asleep.

Contact dermatitis : Another cause may be contact dermatitis. Clean skin w a no fragrance moisturizing soap. Apply a steroid cream two to three times daily to the most inflamed areas.

Probably not : An allergic reaction should not lead to herpes...But wondering  what was allergic reaction and if you know you had  herpes in past(ie. ? Same raah you had before) however if  it doesn't  look like prior "rash" (or never had herpres) see your dr. If doesn't get better.

: A drug allergic reaction may be present. It should improve with allergy eye drops. Rinse with saline and if redness persists, see your physician. For eye pain or change in vision, see the Emergency room.

See specialist: There are many treatments for eye allergies. Medications are one way but you have to take them daily. Allergy shots are the closest to permanently get rid of your eye allergies. An allergist can help determine cause of your eye symptoms and see if you are a candidate.

Should not be ruined: Allergic reactions don't often ruin the eyes. Chemical alkali burns/solutions can damage eyes permanently. So could certain inflammatory conditions that are left unchecked. But seasonal allergy don't hurt the eye, and are not permanent. If your lids are swollen, see an eye doctor soon for treatment.

Side effects: It sounds more like a adverse effects of the medication but not an allergic reaction. If the medication you are taking has anticholinergic property, it will cause dry mouth, dry eyes. If it crosses the blood brain barrier, it can cause drowsiness. Medication allergies can presents with a variety of symptoms: hives, skin rashes, fever, abdominal pain, join pain, or anaphylaxis...

Possibly yes: It could be eczema. It is hard to diagnose it without looking at it but eczema is a skin rash that is dry, red, flakey and itchy. It responds to steroid creams but use steroids on the face cautiously as it may cause side effects like thinning the skin and color change.

Contact lens: This condition is associated with contact lens users who are allergic.  You may well need to stop wearing contact lenses at least for awhile for this to recover. If you have allergic problems (itchy eyes, nasal symptoms etc) consider consulting an allergist. Sometimes a cromolyn type of eye drops may be helpful.
