Should not be ruined: Allergic reactions don't often ruin the eyes. Chemical alkali burns/solutions can damage eyes permanently. So could certain inflammatory conditions that are left unchecked. But seasonal allergy don't hurt the eye, and are not permanent. If your lids are swollen, see an eye doctor soon for treatment.

Depends: Typical allergic conjunctivitis should not ruin your eyes. There are more severe types of "allergies" that may require more serious treatment options other than anti-histamines, and something called Stevens-Johnson which can be devastating to the eyes. See your eye doctor for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
