See a podiatrist...: If it truly is scar tissue, you may be given a prescription for topical verapamil cream to reduce the fibrosis.  If it is something else, the doctor will be able to determine that as well.

Possibly yes: Signs of inflammation such as swelling, warmth, and pain occur in a person with achilles' tendonitis. Damaged tendons can become calcified (get deposits of calcium), thicker than normal, less elastic (not as stretchable), and fibrotic (form scar tissue fibers). Tendon rupture occurs when a sudden shear stress force is applied to an already inflamed or damaged tendon.

Ineffective healing: When scar builds up in a torn or ruptured tendon, it is often not quality strength and will reinjure easily.  The body tried to heal the tendon, but microtraumas continue to happen, cause inflammation and scar not lined up in the long axis of the tendon.  Best treatments are often use of undifferentiated cells plus platelet concentrates injected into the tendon to heal with tendon, not scarring.

Have it treated: Tears in the Achilles or chronic inflammation can result in scarring, which is not as oriented or as strong as the natural tendon.  Many are using fat-derived stem/stromal cells plus platelet-rich plasma to be placed (via guided ultrasound) within the shealth of the tendon.  New tendon often results which is stronger and flexible like original tendon tissues.

Possible small tear: of the Achilles tendon. Requires photo documentation and/or direct observation. If the is a discoloration surround an old Achilles scar, then tendon may be retorn.

If you were smart: You'd take your foot doctor to disney world with you!  keloids are difficult to treat.  Sometimes, a few steroid injections into the keloid can reduce the size and pain, but it takes time. Meanwhile, you'll probably enjoy disney better wearing a backless shoe.

: Unlikely. Scar tissue almost never captures the strength of normal tissue.

: Not sure exactly what you are asking but any tendon tear heals with scar tissue.  You are probably still growing and muscles will only become tighter. You need to have a structured program. Physical therapist can be very helpful. Might be something you will need to do for rest of life  especially if active in sports.  I personally can relate to having tight hamstring muscles

side of ankle stepped on w/cleats in early nov. don't know if it's tendons, ligaments or scar tissue. hurts if pressed & looks little swollen at times?

Get an xray: You're still having pain from an injury sustained 2-3mo ago? It's time to see your Family Doc who can order an xray. If negative, s/he may order bone scan then MRI. Or just send you to Sports Med doc or Orthopedic surgeon. In meantime, ask for physical therapy &amp; avoid those activities that aggravate area.

i cut my middle ring and pinky finger , an damaged my tendons in all 3 fingers , & severed my nerve in my ring finger. i had surgery to repair all of that.my question is i have excessive scar tissue and cant move my finger tips , will they remove it?

: First, participate in hand therapy.  It may be that scar tissue is revised, but you need to discuss with the surgeon.  Best of outcomes.
