Can't Breath: First address this issue with your dentist and see if the two of you can solve the problem by taking a break every 20-30 seconds or not sitting all the way back. I would also suggest that you see an ENT if you cannot breath through your nose. If it is anxiety then make sure the dentist explains everything before during and after so you understand the procedure and can relax and breath.

strains of blood when clearing throat hours after dentist drilled a tooth?  is it normal? this happened yesterday morning. blood looks like a string in mucus

Bleeding: Your gums may have been damaged by the deceased tooth, or the Dentist may have had to clear away some overgrown gum tissue when doing the repair.  Mix 1 drop of blood with 10 drops of saliva, looks awful but really isn't.  If you are concerned, contact your Dentist to see if he/she needs to see you for a reevaluation.

Varies...: The dentist should wait enough time for the patient to be comfortable. For procedures without an anesthetic, this can occur just after the patient is seated. For procedures with an injection, it is when the anesthesia has taken effect.

X-ray: Ideally anytime a tooth is drilled on an x-ray should be taken.   Though it is important, it is not completely necessary since decay is soft the dentist can use a slow drill or an indicating solution to verify the extent of the decay.

during a crown prep,  i believe the dentist drilled too deep and compromised the pulp. now he says i need a root canal. your thoughts, please.  ?

Discuss with dentist: If the pulp was compromised, then yes you do need RCT if you want to save the tooth. As we did not clinically examine you nor have x-rays of the tooth in question, we really can&#x27;t give you a better answer other than to advise that you discuss this issue with your own dentist.  The amount of decay, position of the tooth, size\location of the nerve, occlusion + a myriad of other factors play a role.

hi my dentist did a filling a temporary one and it fell out,i'm in lots of pain,i think he drilled too deep. ive a temp one in,but what are my rights?

2nd Opinion: You can certainly go to another dentist for a second opinion to have that tooth examined. Bring along the radiograph of the tooth in question with you. Don't know why you would feel your dentist made an error... deep cavities cause sensitive teeth. It appears your dentist is trying to avoid the need for root canal therapy. Have faith.

Yes and no: A really superficial lesion can remineralise with the proper treatment. Once a lesion gets deeper, it needs to be restored.

Depends : The location and size of the cavity may determine how and if the cavity is filled.  Dentists have used a number of techniques in treating small cavities, from sealants, and a number of different restorative materials.  In the past, the old drill and fill was the primary technique used.  With the advent of newer technology, some offices are using lasers to remove the decay with less discomfort.
