Enlarged renal pel-: ves.  A fetal anatomic survey by a perinatologist is indicated.  The kidneys should be monitored once a month to be sure that the ureteropelvic junction does not constrict, a rare occurrence causing hydronephrosis, which is a treatable condition if found early

Accepted Answer

Not really.: Post term pregnancy (&gt;41 weeks) carries an unacceptably high risk to the fetus so that most docs will induce labor after 41 weeks.  It is not possible for US to be off that far.

what food should i eat to increase fatal weight at 33 week ? my baby is just 4 pound at 33.2 week?

Fetal weight: Hopefully you mean "fetal" weight, rather than "fatal" weight.  And hopefully you're eating a healthy food plan with lean proteins, veggies, fruits, and healthy fats (especially dha, which the baby needs to develop its brain)?  Please talk with your ob-gyn about your baby's growth, and your personal food plan.  If you need help with eating, s/he can refer you to an individual nutritionist.

IUGR: Intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR) is the greatest concern by the MD's. If your nutritional intake is appropriate, and alcohol consumption or smoking is not present then the OB may do some testing including Non stress tests. At age 49 genetic malformations are a significant concern

How many kg?: If baby is 19 kg you have a major problem! that would mean baby is 42 lbs!  even if you meant to say 9kg, that would be almost 20lbs. Either is way too big for a normal pregnancy. Did you mean baby is 9 pounds?  At 33 weeks of pregnancy, your baby should weigh more like 3-4 pounds.  Please see your obstetrician to get a better sense of baby's size and expected birth weight.

Respiratory distress: Sounds like your baby has immature lungs. She may need a specialized ventilator that is only available at certain hospitals. In addition, she may have an open PDA - a vessel that should close shortly after birth but doesn't always in preemies. These two factors could be contributing to the low urine output. Talk to your baby's neonatologist about your concerns and where you go from here.

Many possibilities: The neonatologist will assess her fluid balance, renal function and electrolytes. In addition, some neurological conditions may decrease urine output. I would advise that you speak to them about the underlying cause of her lung disease. Many 33 week infants recover and do well.

Normal variation?: Size, eg, length estimates by ultrasound can vary due to sonographer difficulty in obtaining measurement, inherent errors in the calculation, or genetic variation--just look at the parents of the baby! in rare cases variations from normal can be due to growth or other problem in the fetus. It is always appropriate to ask those ordering or performing a fetal ultrasound to interpret their findings.

33 weeks pregnant. baby kicks are very strong and painful. could a baby's kicks cause placenta abruption?  i have an anterior placenta, but no previa.

Not likely: Fetal movements are not a known cause of placental abruption. This has not been documented in the medical literature. Fetal movements are generally considered to be a good reassuring thing.

i noticed that my 33  week old baby shakes her from side to side a lot an involuntary movement. it seems to be getting worse. should i be concerned?

Could Be....: Probably a normal variation, but seizures are unfortunately possible.Discuss this with the pediatrician.
