Cramping abdominal pain

Please define a pelvic abdominal 'cramp' and how does it differ from non cramping abdominal pain? I'm in early preg. And i'm wondering if its cramps?

My son has been having colicky cramping abdominal pain in the RUQ, Nausea, and he has been feeling feverish. He has a chrons history but this is not like his flares. The pain is also radiating into his sholduer?
