Penicillin Allergy: Symptoms in penicillin allergy include rash, hives, swelling of lips and tongue. The symptoms you are describing are non-allergy side effects. Abdominal cramping , pain and gas are not uncommon side effects of taking penicillin and other antibiotics.

For the last three nights I've been waking up between 4 and 5 AM with severe cramps in my lower abdomen/intestinal area. I have some gas but passing it does not relieve the pain, nor does having a bowel movement. OTC meds no help.
