Methadone while pregnant
Methadone while pregnant is not ideal. Newborns experience significant withdrawal symptoms upon birth. Other effects include smaller-than-normal head size and low birth weight. However, for pregnant women addicted to opiates such as heroin, methadone can relieve craving, suppress withdrawal symptoms, and block the euphoric effects associated with opiates.
