Which better not clear: Both Methadone and Suboxone would be better than heroin. Which of the two likely better than the other given 6 mos into pregnancy is not entirely clear. Methadone, the older drug, is often preferred during pregnancy, though pregnancy class d. Some evidence to suggest less neonatal opioid dependence occurs with suboxone, pregnancy class c. Data suggests that detox using methadone or suboxone during or outside of pregnancy is not the optimum treatment intervention early in recovery. Early in recovery the best use of these meds to get on maintenance treatment (MT). Methadone MT during pregnancy has more data supporting it's use, but Suboxone MT during pregnancy may lead to less time for new born in ICU.

Suboxone: Suboxone (buprenorphine) has an improved safety profile compared to methadone. Methadone has a very unpredictable elimination half-life in the body, and therefore, a higher risk profile.
