Yag laser
Yag stands for yttrium-aluminum-garnet, the elements which compose the crystal used in this laser. The wavelength of laser disrupts molecular bonds, causing breakage of tissue without burning or heat. This type of laser is useful for some intra-ocular procedures, including iridotomy and capsulotomy, as well as hair removal, as mentioned previously. A modified yag is used to lower eye pressure.
