Laser: I am not an ophthalmologist, but the normal healing phase after any surgery is one month. The complete healing cycle can take up to a year for all symptoms to go away. The gritty feeling is the result of drying out and can be resolved with saline drops. It is common.

Pain is minimal: Co2 and long-pulsed erbium lasers are the more common lasers used in resurfacing eyelids and the face. Pain is generally not a major complaint with laser resurfacing. Expect a 50 - 75% reduction in the depth of facial lines and wrinkles with ablative laser resurfacing.
