What are the benefits of using a yag laser in order to perform a surgery? what is so great about a yag laser as compared to conventional surgery?

The : The yag laser is just a tool used to treat various conditions, it may or may not be better than conventional surgery, depending on your goals and personal circumstances. Lasers just fire 1 wavelength of light. Each laser is powered by an energy source (some use a standard outlet, others use special outlets), however what makes each laser unique is the medium through which the energy is delivered, that gives you the wavelength of light. Another property of laser surgery is the speed with which that energy is delivered. Nd:yag lasers fire their energy through a crystal (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) and emit light at 1064nm. Depending on the speed of that delivery, the 1064nm wavelength can be used to treat unwanted hair, unsightly birth marks or tattoo ink in the world of dermatology. At las vegas dermatology, we have 2 nd:yag lasers- one fires in the millisecond range and is used for hair removal in darker skin typed individuals, the other is a q-switched nd:yag laser, which fires its energy in the nanosecond range to destroy tattoo ink (a particle much smaller than hair requiring energy delivery over a very short period of time).
