Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to remove, close, & fade abnormal veins on the body. It is most commonly applied to leg veins but can be done anywhere on the body. Needles access the vein & a liquid sclerosant drug is injected which causes vessel destruction by inflammation, coagulation of blood, & narrowing of the blood vessel. The vessel hardens & disappears as the body absorbs it.
