Well tolerated.: Sclerotherapy involves multiple small needle injections of a solution to dissolve the veins. The needles are very small and usually range in size from 30 gauge to 33 gauge. These tiny needles are well tolerated but they are needles. If you are very apprehensive then your doctor may be able to give you a mild tranquilizer before treatment such as ativan (lorazepam). You should do well with the treatment.

Sclerotherapy veins: It is very normal to have some apprehension about a medical procedure, and overcoming the mental challenge of anxiety is usually the biggest hurdle. The doctor will insert very small needles into the vein clusters & inject a drug into them at multiple sites. Needle pricks feel like small "ant bites" & drug is typically painless as it is injected. Vast majority of patients tolerate it very well.
