A 43-year-old member asked:

Do some women get rid of chlamydia on their own, or must everyone get antibiotics to cure it?

Dr. Mary Vanko
Obstetrics and Gynecology 34 years experience
Chlamydia: It is a std and needs treatment.
Dr. Judy Orton
Pediatrics 35 years experience
Need antibiotics: Not only do you need antibiotics to cure it but all partners you have had need to be treated. Left untreated chlamydia infections can lead to infertility due to scarring of the fallopian tubes. Also if not treated you will spread the infection to future partners. Males are often asymptomatic or only have brief symptoms of burning on urination. Untreated males will also spread the infection.
