Still going?: This sounds like the 'energizer bunny' of a period. A prolonged period and spotting in your age group would cause me to be concerned about endometrial(uterine) cancer or uterine fibroids. Talk to your gyn md and consider a endometrial biopsy, pelvic exam, and possible ultrasound.

Irregular bleeding: This can be normal or abnormal but needs to be evaluated. Any woman over 35-40 who has a new onset of irregular bleeding needs to be evaluated to be sure they do not have endomettrial hyperplasia or cancer. Most evaluations will turn out to be benign but what you are describing could be a warning sign for cancer or atypia which could become a cancer.
