A member asked:

I had my tubes tied 13 years ago. i had a period ending on 5/2 on 5/17 i started spotting with light cramps for 3 days then it stopped. 5/30 i cramped all day but no period. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The risk of pregnancy after a tubal ligation is very small but not zero, even after 13 years, so doing a pregnancy test is not unreasonable as a precaution. Many things can cause less regular bleeding (sometimes just getting older) but continued observation is OK for now as there is no clear pattern yet and this may be a one off.
