A member asked:

Tested for hsv 1 and 2 igg antibody test at 15.5 weeks after unprotected sex. no symptoms. do i need to retest at 18 weeks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Those antibodies may increase over time, but we tend not to recommend treatment in asymptomatic people as there's no cure. Also these antibodies don't prevent outbreaks. . Inform your sexual partners of your positive test & be vigilant for outbreaks which are treated and you may wish to take daily prevention antiviral medication for their protection, but, again, it's not 100% effective here.
