If by "short cervix" is meant that the risk of premature labor can be reduced by the use of progesterone in any form of application, this treatment will not generally prevent same. "Short cervix" with a pre-existing pre-mature or "early" delivery, may be best treated by cervical circlage. Progesterone is necessary for inadequate placental production of progesterone/miscarriage history.
