The hormone responsible for blood clots in Oral Contraceptives is the estrogen. Progesterone only pills show a much higher safety profile when it comes to blood clots. Unless you have a family history or genetic history of blood clot factors, or are a smoker, most low dose oral contraceptives should be perfectly fine for you. If you are still very concerned go with the progesterone only pills.
