I am 44 years old. my periods are irregular. since i have elevated blood pressure, my gynecologist suggested progestin birth control pills. can progestin bc pills raise blood pressure?

Yes but not as likely as ones with estrogens. Go to drugs.com and read about the side effects of any one u use. If you have not tried DASH eating plan for HBP ask about it. Works better than. any single BP med. Should always be tried before meds but rarely recommended. Only way to tell if progestin affects bp is to try it. Measure BP daily. Before and after.
