A member asked:

I pcos and prolonged periods. im frightened of estrogen. my doctor said i can try drospirenone ( slynd) or norethindrone. what is the difference between the two ? does either cause blood clots ? lastly, which works better for prolonged periods ?

These are two types of progestins (synthetic progesterone) and have not been associated with blood clots. Theoretically drospironone might be a better choice for PCOS but cost and tolerance may be more important concerns. Neither will manage your periods as well as a birth control pill but if one doesn't work very well then try the other.
