Can a colposcopy bring out a vaginal herpes outbreak?

Any stressful scenario can trigger an existing herpes infection to an outbreak. If you were anxious about the colposcopy that may play a role. Anecdotally I have seen this happen in my own practice. Understand the colposcopy didn’t give you the infection, it may lead to only a recurrence.
